Concrete resurfacing in Clayton & South-East Melbourne

Cracked, pitted or just dated concrete doesn't always need ripping out. We repair the damage, level it off and apply a fresh finish over the top, at a fraction of the disruption of a full replacement.

The job

Fix what's underneath before the new finish goes on

Resurfacing only works if the prep is right. We cut out and repair cracks, fill holes and low spots, and check the slab is structurally sound before anything new goes over it. Skip that step and whatever you put on top just fails again in the same places.

Once the base is sound, we level it and apply the finish you're after, plain, patterned, coloured or a decorative overlay, so the surface looks new without the cost and mess of breaking out the old slab.

  • Cracks and holes repaired before any new layer goes on
  • Uneven areas levelled off for a flat, even finish
  • Far less disruption and mess than a full slab replacement

How it runs

Resurfacing versus resealing, and how to tell which you need

Resealing applies a protective coating to concrete that's structurally sound but has lost its shine. Resurfacing is the step up from that, for concrete with visible cracking, pitting or an uneven finish, where a coating alone won't fix the underlying problem. We'll tell you honestly which one your slab needs when we come out to look at it, rather than upselling the bigger job.

More detail on what resurfacing involves and how long it lasts: how concrete resurfacing modernises and extends the life of your driveway. If your concrete just needs protecting, see concrete re-sealing.

Good to know

Concrete resurfacing questions

How do I know if my concrete can be resurfaced or needs replacing?

We look at whether the slab itself is still structurally sound. Surface cracking, pitting, colour loss or an old dated finish are all things resurfacing fixes well. Deep structural cracks, movement, or a slab that's broken up underneath usually means replacement is the honest call. We'll tell you which one yours needs when we look at it, not just quote the bigger job.

What finishes can you apply when resurfacing?

Same range as a new pour, plain, exposed aggregate look, stencilled patterns, coloured or a decorative overlay. The finish goes over the repaired and levelled base, so you get to change the look completely without a new slab underneath it.

How long does a resurfaced overlay last?

Done properly, with the cracks and low spots fixed first and the right overlay for the use it'll get, a resurface holds up well for years of normal wear. It's not a permanent fix on a slab with real structural problems, that's why we check the base before we recommend it.

Will resurfacing hide cracks completely?

We repair the crack itself before anything new goes over it, so it won't telegraph straight through the new finish the way a coating alone would. It's not invisible forever on a slab that's still moving, which is why we check for movement first and won't resurface over a problem that needs fixing properly.

Can you resurface a driveway, patio and garage floor all at once?

Yes, if they're all sound enough for it we can run them as one job with matching finishes, so the whole property reads as one job rather than a patchwork. We'll quote each area honestly if one of them actually needs more than a resurface.
